Anorexia nervosa is a psychological disorder of having a crazy image of one's own body. The body image is distorted beyond a healthy view of reality, leading to behaviour that severely restricts food intake or increases calorie consumption. The result is pathological thinness, which promotes the development of hormonal disorders and resistance to other diseases.
Anorexia can be treated with very low doses of antipsychotics, vitamins, nutritional drinks and behavioural psychotherapy.
